Meet SEfit

About sefit

Strength Endures Fitness, LLC (aka “SEfit”) was established in March 2019. SEfit began as an in-home personal training business and opened its first permanent location in May 2022.

SEfit is a functional strength training facility founded on personal training and small group personal training that also offers open gym fitness memberships. Clients learn the biomechanics of exercises and movement patterns to ensure proper form and technique. This helps them create a sustainable lifestyle around fitness when working out on their own. SEfit’s private and professional environment provides members with an upscale training facility where they can exercise with confidence.

Meet Owner, Melissa Miley

SEfit owner Melissa L Miley has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. She began working at a local gym in her early teens and fell in love with the fitness environment. She started her career with Shippensburg Fitness Center after receiving her first personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) at age 18.

Melissa has worked at several gym facilities in the Franklin County area as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, fitness manager, and Personal Trainer Director at Crunch Fitness in Harrisburg, PA. In Jan 2010, Melissa opened her first personal training studio Believe & Achieve Fitness. She has had the opportunity to train and change the lives of hundreds of clients by helping them live healthier lifestyles.

Melissa is passionate about teaching young adults and has employed, mentored, and developed over 50 students studying Exercise Science and Marketing at local universities. This led Melissa to close Believe & Achieve Fitness in August 2016 and pursue teaching at Hagerstown Community College, Wilson College, and Chambersburg Area Senior High School.

Melissa’s personal fitness journey started with softball and volleyball and moved into strength training and powerlifting in her teens and adulthood. She has placed first in her weight category and best overall lifter several times and ran Ultra’s (50k’s) competitively from 2013 – 2016, placing 1st in her age group and finishing in the top 10 females at most trail races. She continues to escape for miles to her world of trail running with her poodles, Rocky and Domino. In October 2020, Melissa hired her own coaches and began learning Olympic lifting to add to her exercise toolbox of knowledge. Melissa also enjoys cycling, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities.

Education & Training

Melissa earned her associate degree in Health, Physical Education, and Leisure Studies from Hagerstown Community College and later graduated from Shippensburg University with a bachelor’s degree in sports psychology with minors in biology, coaching, and business. Her higher education journey finished with her graduating McDaniel College with a master’s degree in exercise science (scientific curriculum). Melissa’s 2023 goal is to begin pursuing her Ph.D. in Exercise Science/Sports Medicine with a focus on Human Movement.

Along with her schooling journey, Melissa has completed several certificate programs in the fitness field including ACSM-CPT, Functional Training, Kettlebell Level 1, Trigger Point & Foam Rolling, and Percussive Therapy.
